Question Remote filter query

Have a 2000 F 150 4x4 with a 5.4L, Auto. Just did my second oil change today with far less hassles than the first time. However, believe I have seen some threads on a number of F150 years that had remote filters from the factory. My question is, if I can find a junked one out there, will it fit my 5.4L as a direct bolt on? If someone has done it, were there any problems encountered? What about mounting it elsewhere? Seems the mounting was inside the left front fender. Would appreciate any info. Tks, guys! Jim

My 98 F150 4x4 4.6L has the remote filter. As far as I can tell it should swap onto a '00 5.4L also.

You are right, Burnstough. It is not too bad. However, my first time took quite some time to figure out how to get in there and what tools I needed. Second time was fairly decent, about 20 mins or so just for the filter. It is tight, especially for this guy who turns 60 next month. The suppleness I used to have got up and is going. Just looking for a simpler way to change it. Believe I am going to start looking for a wrecking yard F150 with the remote filter onner and get it changed over. Anyone tried to mount it elsewhere? For the life of me, cannot figure out where, but just wondered. Tks, Jim
