08 6.4 PSD oil filters and oil

I prefer doing my own oil change but have yet to do one on my 08 6.4PSD. Did all on my 97' 7.3PSD. What are the oil filter numbers for replacement and where do they go... I know they are under the hood now just not sure which they are. Also what type oil is recommended.....thanks

Oil filter is on the left, when you're looking at the engine. They have the oil filter at Autozone for $19.95, motorcraft oil filter, not some knock off. I use Mobil1 1300 diesel, i noticed alot of people use Shell rotella. I get them at walmart 7.88 for mobil 8.88 for shell. this is for a gallon

Oil change will take you 5 min to do and no mess.

just make sure the oil is the NEW CJ-4 rating, to get along with the new ultra low sulfer fuel and the new emmisions equipment.

yes right around 15 quarts. I use gallons because of less time spent opening bottles. so for me it takes 3.75 gallons to get the job done. Also when changing the fuel filters be sure and get the one on the frame, which is a real pain and takes 36mm socket to reach it and get it off. ( totally sucks)

This is my first diesel though I too change my oil in my cars and use Mobil 1- especially good for cold winter starts. Do folks here put in a lighter weight multi-weight in cold winter climates??
