Introduction

Just wanna say hi. I just bought a 93 XLT 5.0 auto, with 140k on it. The truck runs mint, tranny is fine, auto locks working. The body is sweet.
I would like some imput as to what I should look for as far as little things to be aware of. I have no intentions of making this anything, but what it is.
With a little luck, I will post pics tomorrow.

Edit; I do have one question. She needs shocks, do they sell a complete matched set?

Sweet!! Looks pretty good, but it needs some 33's or at least 31's You have the quad shock set up? Just get the same manufacturer for all the shocks and you'll be golden. You may want to swap out to manual hubs just so you know they are engaged.
Watch out for the tailgate rusting at the bottom, keep the drain holes clear and the weather stripping in good shape!! It might not hurt to reach in there and paint the lower half of the inside of the gate with cold galvanizing paint make sure you don't clog up the drains with paint!! maybe a zinc anode bolted inside the gate somewhere will keep it rust free. I got them on my frame, not that it isn't rusty but it helps I am sure. Another thing even if you don't take it off road every now and then maybe on payday and when you go to the bank put it in 4 wd drive while you wait in line or when you pull onto your street, then when you change your engine oil, drive down your street in 4 lo. Like the old adage goes use it or lose IT!!

Thanks for the input. I will definitely take a pro active approach on the tailgate area. I will be running the beach with it, so you know 4/low will get a work out, and yes it does have quad shocks.
I am so looking foward to getting the fishing pole wet again. It has been a very long time. Thanks again

Frank, I can't stress enough the importance of swapping out the auto hubs for a set of reliable manuals. It will cost you about $100 or so to do it and a couple hours of your time, but that's far less than the aggravation endured and money spent when they fail and leave you stuck. Not to mention the tow bill and the ruined day at the beach.

That's a really nice Bronco you got. Stay off the freeways in LA.

Believe it or not I only paid $1,600.00 for it, and yes I will spend more to make it reliable. I do like the idea of changing the hubs to manual. That will be the first on my list. Thanks andym, thats just the input I am looking for.

You paid $1600 for that? How big was the gun you used when you talked to the guy?

Nice buy.

I totally agree with the above. Welcome! You are probably aware of it but you can actually work on a Bronco yourself. Get a thirty something dollar DIGITAL code reader to check the engine systems and a Haynes manual. Then a thirty something dollar Mityvac vacuum testor, a timing light and a multimeter and you can test just about anything. You can pull codes with a paper clip but the code reader is worth the money. The search feature has been disabled here on FTE temporarily to reduce the server load but bookmark http://fordfuelinjection.com/ for tons of EFI information if you ever need it..The following will generate Boo...s. Replacing the automatic hubs is on my TTD list but they have worked everytime I needed them. I pulled out a tractor last weekend... all four wheels were spinning and bouncing. Just be very gentle with forward to backwards shifting until you replace the hubs.

I just got around to enlarging the pictures. Don't you feel guilty? We may not want to visit with you again as we paid three times as much!

Right place at the right time?
He origianly wanted $1995.
I happen to stop early in the morning, and looked it over.
I called, and asked what was the bottom line.
The rest is history. I finally got one of those deals that you always hear about. Pretty little Philly, aint she?

17fordguy, Thanks for your excellent suggestion I plan on using a steam jenny, and follow up with a good undercoating. The whole trick with running the beach is, as soon as you get home. wash it down completely, top and bottom, just as you would with a trailered boat.
An ounce of prevention.......
