Tranny Problem
I will try to make this as short as I can:
I had my wonderful E40D tranny rebuilt at 96000 miles by a reputable company here in Memphis. I am now at 140000, and it seems to be doing some of the same things it did before the first rebuild. (not going into 2nd gear, slipping over-reving before changing gears). Can you guys tell me what might be going on and if I am on the verge of another 1800 rebuild?? It just started having this problem after I towed a small enclosed trailer to Huntsville from Memphis and back. I ran with the OD off most of the trip except in the flat long straight stretches.
I live about 30 miles from work and most of the driving that I do is highway.

Is there a fluid leak? Does the fluid smell burnt? When you rebuilt the tranny, did you replace the torque converter (TC) or reuse the old one?
I'm not sure where I'm going with these questions, but someone will want to know the answers AND be able to give you better advice.
I'm considering a tranny rebuilt / replacement myself and am not sure which way I want to go yet. Either way, I'm installing a new TC.
