ac question

I'm just thinking out loud, but would there be a way to basically mount an electric motor with a pully on it, bypass the ac with the drive belt, and loop you a belt over the ac pully to the electric motor. I'm tired of the ac killing my gas mileage. Obviously you'd have to wire everything up, but would it work? Let me know what you think.

With the price of everything (electric motor 1/2hp at least, 8 gauge wiring, big fuse, and two batteries wired for amperage, upgraded alternator) It would take awhile to earn back the cost of the system in fuel mileage! Not to mention hauling around the extra weight. It could be done, But would it be worth it? I don't know. You could rig up a timer circuit on the compressor and have it switch the ac off for 5 minutes or whatever the time it takes for it to feel too warm inside then on for 10 minutes or whatever it takes too cool the truck down. Or you could rig up one of those dry ice airconditioners(air chillers) like in the old days that mounted outside the passenger window!!!

Yep thats always a quick fix! Inverter and window unit seen them on vans plenty of times!! Or you could line the plenum up with a bunch of Pelletier junctions and have all electric air conditioning!
