K & N Airfilter !!!

I added the K&N FIPK and the Poweraid spacer at the same time and noticed faster throttle response, and an increase of 1.5 MPGs.
I then removed the muffler and that helped to.
The truck really moves now..
I also cut many holes in the radiator suport to allow more cool air to the filter.

[updated:LAST EDITED ON 19-Mar-02 AT 10:11 AM (EST)]How did you chrome your emblems? Could this be done to the plastic grill as well?

What did your mods do for your torque? Just a little more torque to eliminate that down shift to 3rd when pulling my trailer would be great. I've heard that the muffler delete will hurt torque.

Did you have any problems installing the poweraid spacer? How long did it take?

>How did you chrome your emblems?

Mask around your emblems and go get some acetone and a small tooth brush and some rags. The black part will come right off to reveal CHROME!!

Like MONSTA said its easy.Acetone and q-tips and toothbrush and tape.

As for torque I have lost non that I can notice,I also pull trailers and my tranny only kicks down with a real heavy load or halfway up a hill.My thoughts are if you add HP than torque must go up to ????right or wrong????
As for the spacer install easy only took me about 20 min.
As for the chromed grill
dont know but I will take a look at it.

If HP is torque X RPM divided by 5252, then what you are saying is essentially right.

However, the RPM in which it is "added" is the most important. Letting an engine breather easier is paramount to big HP numbers. But they are usually gained in an unusable (by most driving situations) part of the RPM. Big HP numbers at 5000 RPM do nothing to increase torque at 1500RPM, where you really need it.

It's buyer beware with many mods. Intakes, spacers etc. Some mods can actually HARM low-end torque production. These items are sold with big HP gains posted, yet rarely do you see true and accurate dynomometer firgures.

Yep, got the same one because in the enlighten state of California it's against the law to mess with the stock air box (i.e. replace it with something that allows the engine to really breath). Didn't notice any difference in performance. But the K&N sticker on the air box looks pretty cool, that has got to be worth a few extra ponies. And it keeps the guys at Jiffy Lube from opening the air box so they can pull the air filter out to show me I really need to buy a new one, from them of course.

I have the K&N and didn't really notice that much
of difference until two weeks ago when I added the
Helix power tower and my mileage has gone up a little
the acceleration is more precise and feels like your
floating down the road

Of course the usual F250 SD V10 4.30 ls and all of the
other goodies and the best of all Goodyear MTR's
285/75/16's.

Hell ! Thats my motto !

It's a throttle body spacer. It is suppose to create a whirlwind like effect thus improving gas milage and performance.

I don't think they are worth the money but.. I've got one ordered anyway.:

Are you referring to the K&N FIPK when you say "intake kit"? These replace your existing air box and "snorkel" assy. with an exposed filter on the end and a straighter "snorkel" up to the throttle body.

In my humble opinion, unless you plan on changing the exhaust too, don't expect great things. You may want to look at the thread up in the Super Duty forum entitled "Simple Air box Mod". I think it is a cheaper alternative to the K&N FPIK. Neither will give you true cold air induction just as neither ALONE will give you any noticeable increase in anything. 'Cept maybe intake howl!! <No offense to those who have "experienced" positive effects.>

If you change the intake characteristics you MUST change the exhaust characteristics. Doin' one without the other is like brushing your teeth without toothpaste. Kinda works but not really.

I can see these spacers giving a slight advantage if our trucks had a big ole carb sitting on top. But they don't. How moving the throttle body assy. 2" away makes any difference is beyond me.

On a carb it could effectively allow more time/help increase air velocity/swirl/whatever for the fuel to atomize. Certainly not the case with our fuel injected engines.
