GT40 heads Push rod Length
Hey all,
I hope someone can help me on this. I have a 95 302 (OE) roller and I swaped the heads from a 93 Mustang (GT40). I'm using a 1.6 roller rocker and my problem is the push rods are to short. I measured them @ 6 1/4" So I'm asuming that is a 6.400?? When I place the rocker at the right hight it seems to be about a 1/4" to short. So would that mean I need to use a 6.800 push rod length?? I'm hoping that someone on here has run this setup and can advise me of the right length to use. Any help or direction would be great...

ditto the pushrod checker. It's the only way to do it and know that it's right.
1st ck geometry....ie is the roller going to be just inside the center of the valve tip at tdc then move accross center as valve opens and return. If your using pedestal rockers that has to occur seperately from the pushrod...get that set (using shims if you have to) and then measure for exact pushrod length and order (tmi-335 engine series forum sponsor has them in stock and is lowest price in my experience)
if using studs- the pusrod will help define geometry and you adjust the pushrod until you get the same travel as above then order.
If I left anything out or am in error some way...point it out...but thats skinny and it's a very critical element in your build as you can and most likely will destroy an engine if the geometry is all wrong.
