Does your stereo do this?
If you have a stock HU that plays mp3's, do you get a brief - 1/2 second-static sound at the beginning of some mp3's? I notice this happens on certain folders. I make a disc with say 5 folders, each one containing mp3s from a ripped cd. Some folders will have that static sound in the beginning of each track. Strange.

It must be the signal sent to speakers while the drive access another portion of the disc. I don't know why, but it seems plausible. Try making a short CD that only uses the smallest diameter of the disc.
