Boost #'s while shifting?

I was wondering if I should be seeing max boost numbers while I am going through my gears? I have the six speed and the only time I see 24 to 26 lbs of boost is when I am in 6th.
Thanks
Jeff,

That makes sense, because the most load is on the engine in the highest gear. But i would also look for a big boost number near redline in 5th as well.

With a manual tranny you dump the boost during each up-shift and it has to spool up the turbo again as you accelerate in the next higher gear. With my auto, if I hit WOT in 1st and keep it on the floor during all the up-shifts the boost stays up almost at max the entire time. Note, I've got a stock tranny, and only drive like this once in a while when I'm taking test data after some new mod.

That's the norm for me and my six'er. Or is it my six'er and I?

I just came in from tighting all my boots and taking it for a test drive. My max boost in 120 race was 22 lbs. I back it off because my pyro was at 1250. I felt like I had more throttle but didn't want to push my egt's. I have itp's overboost annililator and was expecting boost numbers closer to 28 to 32 in my higher tunes.
High egt's + low boost = boost leak somewhere, correct?
thanks
Jeff

I've got an early 99 also, and I only see a max boost of 22 psi, because with a stock WG actuator the WG will blow open and limit boost to about that level, depending on how strong your stock spring is. In the past, I had a Banks big head and would hit 28 psi, but after I wore the turbo out at 50K, I decided to stick with the stock actuator and take it easier on the new turbo. You can do a quick experiment by using a strong zip tie (or better a strong spring) to clamp your WG shut so it can't open, and then test drive for max boost.
