Thought I would post this new issue and check to see if any ideas.
Firt 90 Bronco Tailgate window won't go down.
I have the access panel off. Put a volt meter in the loop. with the wires that end up going to the motor. Now figure this out.
When I hook up one of the leads from the meter to the wiring harness and ground the other side. I have voltage (12v) when either the switch inside is pressed up or the tailgate swich is moved to the up position.... But when either switch is moved to the down postion I have no voltage. I have replaced the inside switch. Any ideas PLEASE on what this could be caused by? I can't figure out why I don't have voltage when either switch is put in the down position
Sharlo, I beleive you should have 12V on another wire when you put switch in down position. The switches change the polarity on motor to reverse direction. Sounds like you have an open circuit(broken wire) on the "down" side of window circuit. Maybe you could put a jumper wire on motor and see if window works. Good luck. Don

Thanks for the response. I agree I am not sure how to find it. Do you know if the wiring harness actually connects in the tailgate? Or is it routed into the left rear tail lamp. Since I can't get the tail lamp open, because I can't lower the gate. I am not sure. I did look around at length in the access panel and could not see anything obvious. Any other ideas would be great! If you have an email where I could contact you directly, I would appreciate that also.
I have had trouble with ciruit breakers. switch them around. there are 2 there to play with.they look like fuses but are metal in color and texture.i understand they "popped"because of "lack of lube" I pulled the backing off the tailgate and W-D'ed the entire tracking mechanism and anything that moved.I took no prisoners.I now works great! Good luck
the ground wire is in the left tail light assy.
look at the left side latch, inside... the agate..the upper latch flapper is linked to a rod that operates the switch..i forget if you did this already
Consider going under your Bronco... the wiring harness exits the tail light and routes under the truck. I have traced many problems to the plug in connection under the truck. The connector gets corroded quite easy. Check those wires.
