How To Improve Performance??
I was wondering if any of the "enhanced" chips or like parts would improve my performance or are they just a Hoax?
I simply want to maximize the performance on my 1996 5.0 if possible with a small amount of $ and have it remain dependable in all operating conditions.
( mainly in the high heat of summer with the A/C running full and pulling a load)
Maybe just new platinum plugs and wires will be enough??

Plugs ,Ford racing 9mm wires , Msd cap (or 94 -95 mustang cap )and coil , will pep up truck ,And bump timing . Get K&N air filter ( the one that fits in stock box or a kit. ) will help it breath. And cat back exhaust. you don't have to get kit. Get a proformance muffler and have pipes bent.
I'd start just getting you motor tuned up , You can skip the coil ,but good wires,Motocraft plugs and cap will pay you back . Then you can add others later.

what he said, stay away from split fires or any mutiple electrode plug , i have seen these melt down pistons , on you truck platinum plugs are a waste as your trucks efi was not tuned for it and even though that is supposed to be the 1st year in the fseries for it . the coppers run much better. a tune would help and being 1996 you should be able to buy a programmer for it .

And not to reffle any feathers, but I find good ol fashioned Fram air filters run better than (those overpriced other ones). I just change them at 15 grand along with the crankcase breather. I must be doing SOMETHING right cause I STILL get 15 MPG around town, 16.5 on the highway.

Ok good info all.
I will find a good place to buy Ford 9MM racing wires, regular plugs, and a distributor car, rotor, and coil..
Then I will look at the filter situation next..
So on my 96 F150. there really isn't any computer chip that is a good investiment..
That is good to know.. The truck runs OK at 150K miles on it so far.
The AOD is a little weak though..
Thanks again..

Your truck doesn't have an AOD.. it has push button OD right? More than likely it's an E4OD.
