??

1981 Stepside F100, I6 auto. What is the automatic back then? C4 or 6? They had computer but no FI right? Looked like wierd air cleaner on there, still has smog pump etc. I had an 84 F150 but it had the crapola C5 which was garbage. This guy wants $1000 for the truck. It has stickers from 2000 which tells me it has set way too long. Body is in good condition, was grey or charcoal with red interior. 129k miles. Fluids all look good. Was his Aunts truck he inherited it and drove it then let it sit. Has everything there..just doesn't have any belts on it??? So i can't start it very well..could jump it and at least see if it runs, but too long sitting. Will need brakes gone through, new shocks, radiator flushed, tranny same, rear end grease changed, gas tank dropped and cleaned etc. Needs new dash you get the picture. I was going to offer $500...I don't know how he expects to sell if you can't start it..Will need paint, top is surface rusted, probably never got waxed. Sounds like work to me...is it worth it?? Plan was to get an "old" truck as that is what my daughter wants within the year...and let her drive it. I would love to do this but looks like a ton of work. I would keep the truck myself if need be. My old 1984 I took the 300 out @ 150k and installed a 460 with a C6, a 9" out of a 77 which narrowed the rear 6" and it was a fun truck, was a lot of work then. What would y'all do?

No computer in 1981. If you want to make double sure, if the distributor has a vacuum line, then no computer.

I would pay for the body only, since you can't tell if the engine or tranny are any good. Most people don't quit driving a perfectly good running truck do they?

ask him to put some belts on it(a small investment ) if he wants to sell it as a running truck it needs to run .....if not talk him way down on the price just to cover you .by the way a grand is pretty cheap for a first car or truck!!!
