Thanks dueller, I have never run into one like that. good to know!

braking

The disc pads ride the rotor and the drum shoes brake don't. So to correct for this a metering valve provides a threshold pressure to allow the rear brakes to slightly start before the front. (Helps to keep the vehicle tracking straight) If the rear brakes are released for drag racing and not readjusted this threshold pressure could be incorrect. I'm wondering if this could affect the slider valves pressure in the m/c. Also loosening the rear brakes, could the cylinders be drawing air passed the seals when braking during burnout or at the end of the race? Maybe pressing on the brakes having loose rear brake shoes could push the cylinder rods into the seals allowing air to pass inward when releasing the brake pressure. Just a thought. chuck

Boy do I feel like a dumb a$$

Come to find out that in my quest to kill all that rumbling noise in the cab, some of the insulation pieces that were on the inside of the firewall had fallen behind the carpet and made it a bit thicker right under the brake pedal.
There for bottoming out before it's time.
Yanked out about 3/4" and took it for a drive. 80% better....
Still doesn't stop on a dime, but close enough that I can pick it up after rolling by it.

Thanks for racking your brains.
