I have the resistors and the sealant needed to modify my IDM to a 140v IDM. What i was wondering is if i needed any necessary programming changes to benefit from this, or doesnt this affect anything? I am getting live tuning later in may hopefully, i could wait until then to install it right before i did the tuning, but i would like the added benefits of having it right now.
Also, how the heck do you get to the freaking IDM in these things? I know its inside the fenderwell, but i have had some very trying times, trying to remove the innerfenderwell for the Truspeed install. Is there an easier method?
I've had my drivers side splash guard off several times, once to splice into the PCM wire bundle and once for IDM R&R. On mine, there's a couple of plastic push tabs under the running board, then the sheet metal screws around the finder lip. You need a long socket extension to reach bolts on the IDM. With a second person to hold the splash guard out of your way, you only have to loosen the first third of it. Also, it's much easier to remove the wheel, but it can be done with wheel on and turned out of the way.
I asked Jody quite a while ago if I would benefit from the IDM mod at all. He indicated that I really wouldn't see any benefit from it, with the mods I've got. I would call him to find out for sure.
