Ive got an 03 excursion, and i was just wondering how big of a job it would be to go to a 3 valve motor? Is it all in the heads? Simple head and maybe intake swap, or are there changes trhoughout? Wouldnt do this for 3 years since im under warranty still, but ive been wondering ever since i heard about the power the 3 valves make in comparison.
Do a search, you'll find this has been discussed at length. Seems to be way too much to get into. Engine, tranny and all the associated wiring for both need to to be transplanted. I'm sure someone else will chime in. But do a search in the V10 section. You'll find plenty.....
Meh if its that big of a job i already know its not worth it to me. Its just my truck, i have my race car to go fast. Just wondered if it was an easy swap or not.
There is an 01 Ex here in Texas I keep trying to catch at a gas station or other convenient place and chat with
I know his Ex from a few years back and know for a fact it is an 2001 4x4 V10 version....
Last month I saw him going the opposite way through a red light... It is a very clean Black on Black on Black custom with a 8 inch lift and very big rubber...
Thing is---- he no longer has leaf springs... I know I saw the 05 and up coil front end under his ride
I am wondering if he just swapped in the front end---- or dropped the EX body on a 05 rolling chassis and got the 3v and 5R110 under her now....
If I ever chase him down I will ask all the right questions
Maybe he has the lift kit that replaces the leafs for coils. Skyjacker, I think, has a kit.
Guy in the Excursion forum hacked up an 05 pickupand put the entire fornt clip under his 03? Excursion along with the rear axle. That's what I would do to the reg cab ( or anything config) if I could ever get my hands on one.
