Flowmaster 40

I replaced my trash can OEM muffler today with an old flowmaster 40 that I had laying around. The exhaust is 2 1/2" all the way back from the y pipe. it sounds very good and seems to run alot better, sounds as if it is flowing alot more easier now, clean powerful exhaust flow. I got a question though. After I did this, it seemed to quiet my engine down a little. Instead of the CLACK CLACK CLACK CLACK, its now... clack clack clack clack. It breathes easier for sure, but why quieter? Anyways, I got the IDI sound AND a flowmaster "BLUH BLUH BLUH BLUH BLUH" YAY!

the difference is that the word clack in all capital letters, like this "CLACK" , represents a louder sound description, as opposed to an all lower case "clack", which represents less sound intensity. Like this.....
A stick of dynamite goes "BOOM" and a firecracker goes "boom"

Why cant you guys just be happy with the fact that I changed my muffler out, you are more concerned with my spelling, grammar, and word usage. Maybe this should be Ford Literature Enthusiasts.

Face it, Dave, some guys have just WAY too much free time....

Humor aside, it's interesting to hear about the Flowmaster add-on. I've been thinking of adding one to my truck this summer. Just wasn't sure which series to use.

Don't worry about the corrections those guys made Dave L, grammar doesn't matter too much in this equation. Its the sound that counts! I put a flowmaster on my diesel in place of the stock muffler and I love the sound! May not be as loud as straights but still has a nice roar to it

I went to town today to get some lunch and some tools I needed. If I could single out between the front half of the truck and the back half, then the back half would sound like a big block gasser with a flow master on it, and the front half would have the classic diesel sound. I swear from behind it sounds like a big block gasser....lol!!! but as soon as you smell that exhaust, you know for a fact "Yep thats a diesel" LOL !!!

Is it just me, or are there quite a few Dave fellas in here?

I also had an idea, would it make a flow/sound improvement to hack off the tailpipe and re-route it so it is in front of the rear tire? I plan to go turbo, so might as well have a little fun with the stock exhaust system lol!

I have a question, inside of my tailpipe is a honeycomb type structure, what the hell is it and how do I get rid of it?

I also have thought of that idea. When I go turbo I'm going to have it come out in front of the tire on a 45* like the latest Lightnings. All those bends up and over the axle causes so much turbulace and frictions.
