Back up light problem

I am having a back up light problem. Just getting around to getting them working and the passenger side works fine, but not the drivers. The wire is hot to the plug, but the light does not light. The turn, running and brake lights work fine, so I was trying to rule out a bad ground. Changed bulbs, but still doesn't work, even took the good one out of the passenger side to double check. With the test light the housing is showing hot and I can't figure out why.

Any help, please!!

Corrosion, try cleaning the contact point with steel wool.

Numbers; got a part number for a 4 hole heated carb spacer.
Pt# C4AE-9A589-C. It's hollow on the bottom side with a 1 1/8"
square area sticking out the back with a vacuum nipple.
This block will cause a vacuum leak should the intake not have a
large flat area to seal with.
What motors and years used this heated spacer?
I gots to know.

I'm still waiting for my "buddy" to return my 60/64 parts books. I've had two 64 XL's, but I can't remember what the spacer was. That's a 64 number...390 for sure....could be 64 Bird also. I think one of the two gaskets was quite thick..damn I need those books back. I checked the truck parts book...nothing like it listed.

Sorry, can't help you.

Clean the ground for that socket.

If you used a test light to find current there .you used a different ground spot so you got power.

To prevent future problems after your grounds, sockets, pins in sockets (brass) and the solder pins on the lamps are clean is to use a conductive anti-corrosion surface compound like KOPR-SHIELD made by Thomas & Betts.
This can be purchased at a good electrical supply house.
This would be a good time to do all lamps on your truck as dissimilar metal corrosion between the brass pins and lamp solder pins plus moisture will always haunt your causing higher resistance and slow turn siginal blinking.

You guys hit it dead on! I thought I cleaned the socket, but well apparently not. Used wire brush for cleaning copper tubing and the bulb lite right up.

Thanks,
