Help verify codes again, please.

Back at it again trying to figure out my issues. 90 f350 460/E4OD 4wd.KOER shows 111 which is OK? KOEO, I get 4 flashes showing 460 engine, then a single flash, 3 pause 2 pause 3 pause 1 and thats it. is this a 32 and a 31? shouldent it be in lowest order first 31 then 32? either way this I believe is EVP or EGR valve issues. Confusing how this could effect torque converter lockup? Man this is frustrating, 300 miles on the truck and now this after sinking over 8K in repairs in brand X that I sold after having enough.
Thank You

Order of the codes is not determined by numerical value. Only the order the ECU trapped them.

Is the pause between the 2 and 3 longer than the pause between the second 3 and 1? If you got 111 for KOEO, two digit codes in KOER doesn't make sense. There isn't any 323 or 231 in the code list on www.fordfuelinjection.com so that makes me lean toward the 32 and 31. You sure it wasn't 11 - 11 on the KOEO? You will only get either 2 digit or 3 digit codes, not a mix of both.

But, it does sound like you have an EVP problem, bad connection or something going on there.

Check the voltage on the EVP signal wire; it'll be about 0.5-1.0 volt on a working EVP/EGR system (EGR valve closed). Codes 31 and 32 relate to low voltage coming out of the EVP sensor. You might be mistaking a part throttle surge for a torque converter coming out of lockup. The part throttle surge can be caused by faulty EGR system operation. If you find and repair the 31 and 32 codes but the vehicle still has the surge, replace the EGR valve with a Ford part. I never had good luck with the replacements that have you install an orifice plate that you look up in a chart supplied with the valve. I had an 88 Lincoln with an EGR-related surge, the auto parts store valve did not fix it but the Motorcraft part in fact did.

A '90 should have 2-digit codes. 4 flashes means 8 cylinder, not necessarily 460 (A 351 and 302 also give 4 flashes, but the 302 was never available in an F350). Run through the codes several times. It helps you get used to determining the length of the pauses so that you can learn to separate individual digits from 2-digit codes. It will also flash trouble codes twice, so that helps to double-check yourself. FWIW, I couldn't do the dot/slash thing that fordfuelinjection.com suggests, I just write down digits, then separate into codes.
