I would like to know how an exhaust system could cause a problem where you would need warranty work. I mean if you install it and you notice that it hits the spare and dont do anything about it and one day you go back and you spare tire is melted where the exhaust touched it........well im sorry but if you try to get the warranty to cover that than you are an idiot. CYA....Cover Your Azz...

Mods can be warranty friendly
It's a long answer but I'll assume if you are concerned about mods and warranty you'll consider my opinion. I am a "mod friendly" Ford dealer. There are two types of mods in my opinion, Progamers/Chips and everything else. Ford relies on the dealer to determine if a modification is the cause of a failure and always have done so. Ford, Gm or any company would love to have a 150HP advantage over the competitor. But they must meet strict and consistent emmissions, performance and durability standards. Even the programmers acknowledge, "trailer towing in the performance mode may cause engine damage or failure". Or "level 3 for offraod use only". How can Ford make a vehicle that is one click away from engine failure or guarantee you will never push "3" while on road? Edge(MSD), Banks and Hypertech all have exceptional R&D programs. If you use the product as directed you likely won't have a problem and if you don't you likely will have a problem. You have the button and you accept the responcibility. The "new policy" is the same old one except they are letting you know they now have the technology of catching stupid people. That takes the call out of the dealers hands (thankfully). As for other mods, search out companies that make and warranty their own products and supply the OEM's in some fashion. sema.org is a good resource. For example Fabtech was given Ford's excellence award at SEMA 04, Ground Force, K&N, Borla all supply Ford Racing. It is just something for the service manager to have confidence that Ford does business with them. Ask your Ford service manager (preferably where you bought it) that if you perform all the Ford required maintenance at his store, give his parts dept. the shot at matching price and have his qualified techs install at the manufacturers suggested labor time, will he warranty the vehicle either through Ford or the mod maker other than obvious abuse? 9 out of ten will, the other guy is dead from the neck up. Many people underestimate how far an oil change goes.
