Swap or Replace??

I have an '77 F-250 Highboy. It's got a 351M with a manual trans. I believe the bearings are just about gone in the motor. I'm trying to figure out if it would be easier to replace the bearings or swap out motors. My father-in-law has a 78 extendcab that he's been trying to get me to take it's a basket-case. But it's saving grace is that it's got a almost new 400 with a brand new C-6 in it. I don't think i want to go through all the work with the tranny but maybe in the future since i'll have the parts. But will the 400 bolt right up to my tranny or would it just be easier to go through the 351M? Thanks.

It's a Direct swap...... get the 400

you will notice the difference in Torque & power immediately

Agreed 400M is a great motor, you will be glad you did. Stock 400s are better than stock 460s in my opinion...(definitely in the case of my two motors)

Now as far as the swap would go I have a manual and the brand new C6 has tempted me but then I'll have to switch the steering colum and everything else to switch over. Time is my biggest issue. Of course I run into this problem in the height of our snow season and this truck is my money maker right now. How much more time would be involved in making the entire swap?

I assume it's a plow truck- since the c6 is out of a supercab it'll have a longer tailshaft, so your driveshafts won't line up right and that's a hassle. would definitely be some fab work.
