Automatic Unlock?

Someone on a thread was saying that they use their keyless entry when they warm up their truck. I thought that was cool that I finally found a reason to use my keyless entry. So, I tried it. The problem is the truck unlocks the door if the engine is running. Perhaps, even if the key is in the ignition although I didn't try that. Ordinarily, I'd think it is cool that it keeps someone from locking the keys in a running vehicle.

So, can I start my truck with the key and lock the door or not? This is a '06 F350 Lariat PSD 4x4.

Yes, if you get out of the truck while it is running hit the 7-8 amd 9-0 buttons on your keypad at the same time. It will lock all your doors. Then when you get back to the truck you unlock it with the keypad.

THIS ONLY WORKS ON MODELS WITH THE WIRED IN KEYPAD NOT THE STICK_ON ONE!!

Don't want anyone getting stuck outside a running vehicle.

You have to have the key fob remote outside of the truck. I put my key on a chain connector so I can take it off my key ring to let the truck warm up or if I have to go back in the house for something.

On the later models, you CAN unlock the doors using the keypad (without having the fob outside the truck) when the engine is running. But on some the earlier models, this wasn't the case and many people locked themselves out. When I tested mine, I just left the driver window down in case I did get locked out. I'm not sure what year they changed it, but my 06 works.
