2000 running problems

2000 running problems
My neighbor has a 2000 ex, diesel and after the truck runs for a day or so, it won't start. We have check for water seperation, and cleaned that all out. We put diesel from our rig into the top of the motor, and it runs fine untill it uses all the gas we just put in. Now it sounds like it's only firing 4 out of the 8 injectors. The truck has 160k on it, and we have just changed the fuel filter, but there is alot of additives in the tank..thanks to his father not knowing what was needed to fix a problem.
Should we drain the tank and run all new gas, or is there something that we should look for on diaganosing the problem further?
