Chasis Issues
I recently bought a 56 ford pick-up (intended to be F-100), the problem is that I´m not much familiar with the available chasis on those years (how many chasis types were available?). Mine is what appears to be a F-250 ton chasis because is straight at the rear end and what appears to be very robust. I realized of the problem when I was plannig on how to lower the rear end and for my surprise there is no space.
Does anyone can help me on how to identify my chasis? any web site I can visit to compare mine? I´m now looking forward to buy another model year chasis (53-56). Does anyone have any idea on how to modify the large chasis to lower ride height?
Any Ideas will be greatly appreciated.

Thank you for your response, that pictures will certainly help me out of the trouble of identifying the chasis.
Does anyone know what models share the same chasis?, this can help me to narrow my search to some model years.

F-100 and F-250 frames are both 34" wide in front, have a 2 3/4" dip in the front(when compared to the center flat section), have 41" spacing on front spring hangers, 2" kick up in the rear(when compared to the center flat section). There is a very slight difference in the rear spring hanger spacing. 47 35/64" for F-100 and 47 27/32" for F-250. I could be hard pressedd to measure this closely. The major difference would be in wheel base 110" for F-100 and 118" for F-250. There may or may not be some difference in metal guage between the two. Later models have upgraded frame guage metal as you go up in series numbers. If you want to shorten the 118" frame, cut out 8" from the flat center section to make the wheel base 110".
