question for 62 Red Truck

62 Red Truck replied to a Question a few posts back. I see he is using a front clip from a 2004 Crown Vic. From the pictures on his gallery, it looks like a very clean and simple installation.
What are the width dimentions and will it work for a 54 F-100.
Thanks in advance for the information.
This is a great forum.

I don`t have an answer for you but this will move it up and someone may jump in. It sounds like a good install and the dimentions should be the same or very close as they weren`t changed very often back then. I had an 80 Mercury front clip installed that was a close fit.

1953-72 trucks have the same frame width. I am constantly sending 61-66 owners to this forum to check out all the front suspension options in the tech articles at the top of this page.
A lot of 61-64 trucks are being transplanted onto Crown Vic frames as the wheelbase is the same as a shortbed. One major obstacle is that the frame gets wider under the cab and will hit the steps inside the doors. Either the steps or the frame have to be modified to clear.
Around 2003-2004, Ford changed the Crown Vics to use an all aluminum front crossmember to mount the fornt suspension and engine. This aluminum crossmember will unbolt from under the cars by removing 6-8 bolts. Use the stock frame and adapt the crossmember to the F100. Would not have to worry about fitting body mounts and such. Know any cop cars that have been totalled?
