1997 f150 seized rotors

got a 4x4 and the front rotors are really seized on the hubs. Has anyone got suggestions? Was thinking of using heat and get it hot. Tried a 10 lb sledge and no way . Would the heat damage the bearing?

If both are in the same condition, something has happened to cause it.
Open both bleeders to be sure there is no high pressures causing it.
If the pistons are not stuck the calipers should be able to be spread apart enough to get them off.

rusted on rotors

Sorry, I meant the rotors are so rusted that I cannot even budge them . they are really rusted on to the hubs.I want to try heat or is there a a tool to remove them? I am afraid of bending the hub from hammering

spray them down with PBlaster and let it sit for say 10-20 mintues or so. Then take a few swings and they should come loose. It took me 2 days to get mine off. Also, try to hit the rotors from behind a couple times to break the rust loose.

Good luck, best advice I can give is spray them down and swing.

Yup they won't come off without being destroyed. Unless you have a "on the vehicle brake lathe", don't plan on reusing them. Smack em hard with a BFH on the front and the back, rotate, and repeat.

Does anybody know why they stick so bad? On my last truck I antiseized the new set but sold the truck a year later so never got to check them.

I used PB blaster and a dead blow hammer. Mine were rather easy, only took maybe 10 minutes to get them off. Those in the Rust belt have a hellova time though. Heat was going to be my next step, just heat the rotor, since it needs to expand anyway, and the bearings/grease should be ok in the hubs.

I have heard people using a torch on their rotors as well as pb blaster, but becareful about mixing the two. The last ones I replaced they had to be swung at pretty hard to break away the rust hold. After you get them off be sure to use anti seize compound on the new rotors.
