Slows Down
Hi i need a little help i just bought this f150 4x4 1985 to restore little by little but i have a question? It has a 302 2bbl and when you gun it the truck slows down? i mean like its like it drops into a low gear the revs are there but the truck just slows? i was think fuel starvation am i on the right track?

Try a new fuel filter and check your fuel pump output before you head to the tranny shop. I had a '92 F-150 5.0 that acted the same way. Would do fine on the flats and downhills, but would hardly make it up a hill at any speed. The transmission kickdown would engage, the motor would speed up, but the truck would slow down! A new fuel filter fixed it right up.
