Question heater problems

I know this is not the right place to post this but can't post in other area. I have a 02 Mountineer with V-8- about 2 months ago the AC quit working- Now the heater won't heat either- everything on the dash is working fine(blower-temp settings)- the vacuum control that opens to allow hot water into the core is not opening - can force it open but still can not get hot water to core- there is plenty of water in radiator- thermostat is fine also--- any suggestions

I moved your thread to the Mountaineer forum.
I am not familiar with the design of your mountaineer, but I would guess that you have no vacuum to the controls. Is the air coming out of the defrost vents only and you cannot change them to the dash vents or the floor vents?

thanks- The vacuum is not working the heater control valve that is in the feed line to the heater core- I manually opened it but still can not get hot water to the core-the controls are working fine- floor- dash- defrost

after reading some others- it appears that with no vacuum- the valve is open?? correct anybody??- it seems hard to believe the core would be plugged on this new of car but guess between that and checking the pin on the control valve - don't see much else to try at this point

Are you sure the valve is opening when you force it, or is the actuator moving and the actual valve stuck? The symptoms your describing could be a broken valve that's never really opening.
