tick

i have a sensor that is ticking. Never heard it do that before. It has 2 vacuum hoses going to it. It has one off the Tb and one down to a rectangular can of some sort near lower part of rad on passanger side. This truck is a f-150 4x4 302. 92 is the yaer. I have a manual but i can't seem to find what this is. Some times it ticks if i play with it it stops then it starts again. Any ideas what it is?

I have a 4.9 but I think you described a PCV valve.

Canister purge valve.....it's in a vacuum line between the throttle body and the charcoal canister mounted to the frame.

The charcoal canister stores vented fumes from the gas tank(s) and the purge valve empty's the system into the engine when it the computer energizes it.

Shouldn't be making any ticking sounds...check for an exhaust leak.
