Another headliner thread

Hi folks! I posted this in the appropriate forum at first, but got no replies, so I'll try my luck here. There have been a few posts about headliners in the recent past, but, well, just read... (cut and paste)

Hi folks! I am in no way associated with LMC ...not trying to sell their products. That being said, does anybody have one of these (click the link, bottom picture):

The reason I ask, I want to make 1 for my '60, but I'm not sure how they mounted the speakers. My headliner is in almost new condition, so I'm probably going to use it as a template. I just need a picture or detailed description of the top side of it. I usually spend most of my time on the '48-'60 forum, but I heard you folks were cool too! Thanks in advance for the help...

Those are vaccuum molded ABS plastic headliners, which once shaped are quite stiff and strong. That's the same material used for most molded interior paneling in new cars. Depending on the thickness of the ABS used the speakers are likely to just be bolted to the plastic. A quality job might have an additional ABS (or 1/8" plywood would work) doubler reinforcement ring added to the back side.
