Muffler

When I get the money I'm going to change out my downpipe but have been thinking about replacing the muffler with an aero-turbine muffler. Is anyone running one or heard good/bad things about it. The clips sound great on the website. I don't want a loud exhaust, more like a deep tone and whistle. After the intake mod I've been enjoying the sound of the turbo. I don't want to gut or cut out the cat. Any suggestions?

The stock muffler is a strait thru design, it flows pretty well. The only restriction in your exhaust will be the cat. Strait piped will give you the deep tone and whistle but some drone around 2000 rpms.

I have heard aero-turbine mufflers are nice but very expensive.

Mine drones above 2200rpm, I straight piped the kitty and kept the muffler in and it sounded real nice, the turbo sings a symphony with the down pipe as well. Afterward I dropped the muffler, regret doing that just cause of the droning noise at high rpms's. If I could do it again I would keep the stock muffler in place.

When I installed my 4" magnaflow exhaust I put the muffler on and it had a really bad drone, so I pulled the muffler off and same drone but much more whistle .

I have done that a few times. The drone seems to be louder with the muffler. It does get raspy and loud when you floor it but I am used to it now.

could the drone be coming from the down pipe , because of more air flow

my intake/exhaust consists of: napa 6637 intake, gutted EBPV, 3-4" downpipe, 4.5" straight pipe turned out right in front of the rear tire.

i get no drone with windows up or down

whatever you do keep the muffler! if nothing else i will buy it from you, lol. they are straight through design and theres actually a lot of ppl who like the quietness but want to retain good power!

does anyone have suggestions on the downpipe? I noticed some have 3.5 and others say they have a 3x4. Is there much of a difference in performance or is it just fit?

Get the Tymar IMO. I just did this and I love it. 3" to 3.5" downpipe to 4" exhaust. I left the cat out, did the 6637 intake and gutted the EBPV. This set up sounds great, (not any louder, you just hear the turbo and it's a little throatier.) Runs great also. I can certainly tell the difference. I felt the price was right also. Tymar exhaust shipped to my door in Colorado for $415
