300-I6 engine work

I have a 65 f100 2wd w/ a 300 and 4 spd. I am thinking of fixing it up with 4 barrel intake, carb ,headers, exhaust and maybe cam. I found that clifford performance supplies these parts. Has anyone dealt with them before?

Am I wasting my time? Should I be looking for a V8 for increased hp?

I would like to change to an auto tranny with my engine work.

Any words of wisdom?

I have never done anything with clifford, but I had a 240 in my 66'. I put an Offy 4 barrel intake on it with a Holly 390 carb. Also used a set of try-Y headers flowing into a single exhaust. The performance increase was great, and It was always a pleasure to drive. I wish now that I would have put in a cam for even more performance. I would go for it. You will think you have a small V-8 under the hood!

nj I am in the same boat 65 i/2 ton with the mighty 300 six banger. I have an offy four barrel manifold 500 cfm carter a cam and split headers all from clifford. I wouldnt dream of putting in a v-8 but i will be putting a t-5 behind the 300 in 2 months the current three speed eats up the fuel like a big dog.
