Just thinking out loud, has anyone ever thought to test the flow of the AIS filter as an open filter? By stratigically cutting out the bottom just so that it can still be mounted to the fender-well. Don't get me wrong, some people need the closed-intake style filter due to high dust environments and personal preference. I've just noticed that some people (with tuners/chips, ect, ect) still have issues with restriction even with the ZooDad and Fender Sleeve.

If you really think about it, the AIS outfilters(everything) and outflows the 6637 filter(from what I have read) in stock form. Like I said, just thinking out loud.

It comes with it's own and it is more sensitive than the stock piece.

I have some aluminum Screen over my zoo dad and then another piece behind my grille. I get some bugs in the grille screen but soon as you shut the truck off they usually fall out on the ground.
I know for a fact my EGT with the AIS is up 100-150* over the 6637 filter. That makes me think the 6637 flows much better. I just didnt like the noises from the 6637..the AIS is really quiet.!

I did the zoodad mod & the fender sleeve on my AIS. I didn't have to change my AIS filter for 25,000 miles. Worked well for me, here is a couple of links for pictures of this mod and the fender sleeve.

With the AIS filter minder in WOT conditions I would pull it down maybee 1/4 of the way. After I installed the stock filter minder it didn't move at all.

I used this same screen on the grille as i did the Zoo Dad. the Zoodad has never had any bugs or anything on it. 6 bucks for a roll of this aluminum screen.

For keeping bugs and stuff out = Yes
For cooling = no. Not only is he blocking the air flow to the air cleaner not once but twice, he is also blocking some air flow to the intercooler and the rest of the cooling systems.

Is that restrictive to the airflow?

The screen? Yes, Just look at his picture and see how much area the wire mesh takes up.
