Coil problem?
Hello, I swapped a 97 5.8 with fuel injection into an 85 F150 with a 4.9. I am having a problem with the idle. When started cold it will run real rough, this usually lasts for a few seconds before it clears up but sometimes the only thing that will make it clear up is a tap on the coil with a srewdriver handle. I have replaced the coil with no change. There are no trouble codes and the check engine light doesn't come on. Has any one had this problem or have any ideas?

Try tapping on the coil with a MAGIC WAND as opposed to a screwdriver.
Just kidding....
If tapping on the coil helps, but replacing the coil does not, I would think that an electrical connection to the coil is bad...not the coil itself.
