Brake Problems

I have been having problems with my front disc brakes. First, my driver's side pads were worn down further than the passenger side. I replaced the pads, calipers and eventually the rotors. Now, when I jack up my truck, the tire doesn't want to spin freely. It is like the brakes arent fully released. There is constant pressure on the rotors. Also, when I'm driving, the brakes will sometimes make a grinding and squealing noise like it does when the pads are low, but they aren't. Any suggestions?

Firstly, it is essential for the correct operation of a disc brake that you should get some drag when you rotate the tyre by hand. So your brakes sound normal. Some disc brakes have anti-squeel shims inserted between the pistons and the pads. Did you notice these? If not try to get a pair and install on the steel backing of the pad next to the piston. Failing that try blowing any dust from the pad rotor area and put a thin smear of anti-seize grease on the back of the pad next to the piston on each side. Hope this helps.

The slider or caliper may be rusty and the caliper is stuck (it's should be free to slide in and out). The rubber brake line can be breaking down and pieces of rubber inside are acting like a one-way valve preventing the brake fluid from leaving the caliper. ...Terry '90 F150
