engine light on a 2003 powerstroke
I have a check engine light on my 2003 6.0 liter. I tried to hook up a code scanner and when it is connected to the OBD II connector the scanner is getting a link error. It happened with 3 different ones. I blew a fuse a while ago that took out the whole instrument panel, radio and lights. Since then the check engine light has come on and gone off a couple times. Is there any fuse or anything that the OBD II goes through? I can't find anything.

you cannot use any old cheap code reader on these trucks. These trucks use something called CAN protocol which is like the next level of OBDII. if the code reader you are trying to use is the cheap version they use at autozone it will not work. make sure you ask if it supports CAN. They are out there it just costs more money so not every one has it.
