Speedometer correction question.

My truck currently has P235 70R 16's on it, and I am planning on going way up to the 285 75R 17's with new 17 inch wheels. The P235's have my speedometer set at the factory setting. I know you can buy programmers to correct the speedometer for the new tire size, however, I don't really want to buy a programmer to do that. Is there any other way this can be done? Can the Ford Dealership do it? Thanks all.

It depends on the year. My 97 f150 can't be reprogrammed. I think 98's can't either. 99+ can have the computer reprogrammed to compensate for tire/gear changes. For 97's and 98's use Superlift's Truspeed sensor calibrator. It installs inline and changes the signal. Course I dont even know if you have a 150.
