ihave a 1998 ranger 2 weel drive. the a.c. turns on & off at idle speed.uses a lot of gas. the obd2 cods are po340,po172,po175 & comp^ .... what dose it mean & how do i fix it? v6 4.0l calif. truck. any help please..........................

Refrigerant probably low, possibly due to leak.

Define " a lot" of gas. If you are 15 mpg city or better, dont expect too much more.

Search on here for the codes, I dont know offhand.

P-0340 is "Cam sensor circuit" Check the wiring to the cam sensor. It's where the distributor used to be/top of the engine near the firewall.
