Can you make a 2.3 lope like it has a big cam in it,but with out putting a bigger cam in it?
If not what cam do you guys recomend?

That lope you desire is a result of valve overlap which is determined by the cam, so it's pretty hard to induce without changing the cam. If you have an older carbed 2.3 you can switch to a manual choke and pull it out when idling to get a similar effect, at the expense of fouling plugs and burning extra gas. Too much effort involved just to try to impress people, and anyone who really knows can tell the difference. Most people will just shake their heads and tell you to get a tune-up.

If you really want that lopey idle, change the cam...but be aware that the kind of cam that produces that sort of idle isn't really suited to a truck, it's one that makes it's power higher up in the RPM range, not down low where a truck needs it.

 

Hahaaa! Does this have to do with a sheep in wolf's clothing? I have watched this sort of stuff for 55+ years, and I don't remember anyone being fooled by it...

 

I have a 460 and it lopes like krazy! LOL, im getting tired of it! Im sure is sounds good outside the cab when its loping but i have this awfull rattle when its loping. But anyway i have a 87 ranger with the 2.3 and it is running rich, smokes, runs rough and i dont know wtf the problem is.
