Weird conversion ?

I have a friend who is looking to buy a either a 96 or 97 F-250 with a SPD in it. The trucks a canadian truck so the odometer reads out in Kilometers instead of miles.

Besides the cluster do you think that he is going to have to change the sender for the speedo also?

Any other things you can think of that may need changed?

It would be easier to learn to convert.
Quick and easy multiply KPH X 6 and drop the last digit for approx MPH.
When you do that for a while it gets to be automatic.

it would be easier to just learn to look at the small numbers, inset on the speedo that tell you how fast your going in mph. As far as a swap goes you would have to get one that is in MPH and compare it to the one with km/h on it, and decide if the MPH match up with the MPH on the canadian one....if the numbers are all in the same spot then no.

converting for him isn't an issue, he owns his own trucking company and he runs Seattle to Alaska all the time, he is used to it. Problem is he isn't the only one to drive the PSD all the time.

Knowing his wife it would be easier to teach pigs to sing opera

Talked to the Master Mechanic at the Ford dealer, and he stated that he has never done one, but from what he has read it should be just a speedometer swap. Same VSS is used, same instrument cluster "except speedometer" is used. So find a speedometer in a junk yard, grab it and install it. Then have someone pace him and see if it is reading right.
