Found my problem!!!

I will still be checking the fuel pressure very soon - but I believe I found the problem and my truck runs WAY better!! My Exhaust Backpressure "code eliminator" was bad - as far as I know I got it that way - and it's been in ever since I did my BB turbo install!! I went to check it last night - and the dumb thing fell apart in my hand as I was trying to un-plug it from the stock connector. Needless to say - I was a TAD .... ANYHOW - I chucked it across the yard, and plugged back in the stock EBP sensor - and dis-connected the betteries for about a half hour.

ALL seems good - not a huge difference lugging it down low - but from there on up the RPM's - it pulls strong - REAL strong (where before it basically used to just flatten out).... Lets just say - I'm thinking my next mod will be Hawk pads (and maybe Powerslots) for the rear!!!

Thanks to all you guys for the help and suggestions on what to check out - once again - FTE saves my A$$!!

On Edit: and ooooo yea... Got Smoke?? It's baaaaa-aaack!!!!!!!!!!!!! The rolling-out-the stacks, billowing kind! Git-r-DONE!!!

Glad to hear it's back up and running well!! Did you check with the vendor to see if they'll warranty the part -- if you can find it in the yard?

You've got a PM.

Glad you figured it out. I told you when my code was coming up my truck was a total dog.....so glad to see that is what it was related too. Now get back to a dyno and see what you really make

Good find

Maybe I should pick up a spare EBPS eliminator since I deleted the backpressure tube and sensor altogether when I did the engine.

JTHarvey - I really don't think I even want to mess with it again - unless I have a PROBLEM with the stock sensor - I think I'm just gonna leave it alone for now.

SilverBullet - Yea I'm really glad you posted that - I just assumed that code was probably because I HAD the eliminator on there - not that there was something wrong with it! Thanks a million!!

Cookie - I am almost SURE that it was bad when I put it on - I don't think that it went bad while on the truck - I'm pretty sure I would have noticed that kind of a change. AND before I put the sensor "eliminator" on the truck - I had driven it around "stock" for 2 weeks after Ford nixed my warranty and I finally decided to tackle the oil leak myself.... and then it was down for a week after I found the stock turbo to be shot... Too many changes all at once and I just never noticed the top-end power was gone - I was too giddy listening to that new turbo sing!!

Nicely done, Chad! Gotta be a good feeling to get it up and running like it should be again.

I realized last night that after installing the ATS housing and other goodies this weekend that I had forgotten to move the o-ring from the stock compressor housing outlet onto the ATS. I was looking at the stock one thinking of cleaning it up and selling it or something and saw that o-ring staring me right in the face. Felt pretty dumb, for sure.

Went back out tonight, removed the V-clamp that holds the compressor housing to the spider that goes to the intercooler tubes and intake manifold, removed the two intercooler boots which allowed me to pull the spider away from the compressor housing (since it's connected below with two more boots, so they flex some ), and slipped the o-ring in like I should've from the start. Even a minor fix like that makes me feel much better, now that it's done. I can bet that a fix like yours that really makes a difference feels even better!
