installing ts-chip....

hey everybody. i just got my new ts-chip in the mail today. its for my 1997 auto crewcab f250. took out the directions and starting pawing all over my truck. i still cant find my computer. the directions say i have to remove it. is it really behind the emergency brake pedal? i found what looks like the computer but it was in the engine compartment just on the other side of the firewall from where the emergency brake pedal is. so i am kinda lost..would like to get this thing in soon though i am itching to feel what my truck can do. thanks guys.

I recently installed the same chip on my truck. which is exactly the same year, model, and style (crewcab). Yes you do have to remove the parking brake assy. while cable stays attached. there are 2 threaded bolts that hold the pcm in position, which are inside the engine compartment. You will also need to undo the wheel well cover on the front left wheel for access, and removal of the pcm, so you can clean up the circuit board to install the chip. Takes a while to do, just be methodical, and you shouldn't have much problems. jcab

By the way, you will like the performamnce which the chip gives you, haven't noticed increase in fuel mileage though. I need to install gauges, have you got any? And if you did where did you get them? I have an open air element, and 4 inch exhaust, which I would suggest you do also to dissapate the exhaust temps faster.

really you only need to remove the e-brake when you go to re install. pull a few of the black bolts out of the fender liner before you try to pull the pcm out into the engine compartment or you will cut your insulation all up on it like i did. once out remove covers and start cleaning and scraping old stuff off really easy.

you will like your ts!!!!!

here are a few of my pics you may find useful

thanks guys i think i am gonna give it a go in the morning then. jcab i got my gauges through black cloud diesel. did the install myself, took me about a day going slow to do everything. wasnt to hard, just tedious. i did the 3 inch downpipe and have a 4 inch exhaust with no cat and a 5" tip. i also did the kwik filter mod, but i need to replace it, its got about 15000 miles on it now. the chip is just the last straw in my plans for the truck. i did the ground work before the chip.

You Did It The Right Way!

I NEED TO GET GAUGES, YOU DID IN THE RIGHT ORDER, TO GET ACCURATE TEMPS.

I RECENTLY CHANGED MY QWIK FILTER, AND WAS AMAZED HOW MUCH A CLEAN FILTER MAKES ON FUEL ECONOMY. SHOULD OF CHANGED AFTER RELACING THE FUEL PUMP, BECAUSE IT WAS DIRTY THEN. YOU CAN ONLY GET AROUND 10 TO 15K MILES, THEN WILL NEED TO CHANGE IT.
