Not really toast, but is the tip still in the hole....... if so there may be a chance to remove it. Which cylinder is the tip in...........was the tip burned of or torn off.
You will first have to bring that cylinder to TDC............. post back and we can give you how to info.........
I dont know which cylinder it was because it was noticed after they where replaced. I think they where burned off, should I take the heads off? Thanks allot!
Burned of as in a ragged edge......... No do not remove the heads yet. Can you roll the engine over by hand for 2-4 complete revolutions, using a 15/16 socket and ratchet going clockwise facing the engine. If it rolls all the way around with no binding then the tip may not be in the cylinder yet or it is gone........ Tough call from there on out as it could be in the precup still.
Well one would surmise it's not in the cylinder then. I think by now it would hav been blown out into the cylinder by the explosive force of the fuel/ignition if it was in the precup. The timing if too far advanced will burn off the GP tips, how bad does it rattle at warm idle.
Nothing more than normal but I had been having problems with it and they have gotten worse. For a while it would run fine for a little while, like 40 miles and then just shut off and not want to restart but after allot of cranking it would start back up and run for a qourter mile and then shut off again. Then recently I took it out and as soon as I turned out it felt like it had a lack of power and then all of a sudden it started smoking and wouldent go over 12 mph. Could this be related? Thanks for your help.
How much fuel in the tank selected at or near 1/4 full, fill the tank or switch to one with more than 1/4 tank first. We can then eliminate the first possible problem broken off fuel pickup(s).
