Keyless entry

I have a 05 screw with a keyless entry. While at the Ford dealership today I was talking to the parts guy and inquired about changing the factory set code for the keyless entry. He told me that it is not possible to change the code set at the factory. I told him that didn't make sense. If I sold the truck I could get into the truck at a later date if I wanted to. I can't believe this is true. Does someone have some knowledge on this? I want to change mine because my son has learned the code and I don't want him to have access to inside of the truck. That's another story though.

That dealer is a complete idiot. Read your owners manual. There's a simple procedure to change the code.

I changed mine in about 2 minutes.

the permanent code is just that--permanent. you can add another code if desired, but the permanent code is still there. the only way to change the code is to replace the module.

Yep, that's correct. You can't literally change the original factory code - you just add another one that you choose.

Like stated, the code that is there from the day of purchase, will always be in there. The one you set can be reset at a later date by the dealer, but the *original* code it left the factory, cannot. The parts guy was correct, in a sense.
