starter issues
I've tried searching, but I can't find what I needed. I'm prolly just a noob at searching this site 
I'm trying to fix my parents 2001 or is it 2000? F-150 Lariat. If I recall correctly it's the 4.somthing v8. I've worked on cars before but for some reason this truck is kicking my ****. Where is the starter? I can't even find an engine diagram. When the key is turned there is a click and then nothing. Lights turn on and the battery has been checked. I got under the truck and could not for the life of me find the starter. I'm going to assume that it's just corroded connections on the starter due to the fact that I'm up here in Michigan.

It's on the passenger side,(right side) tucked in under the exhaust, not the easiest thing to get to. There may be only two bolts holding it on but man space is tight.
I know because I have to replace mine and I just looked at what I was getting in to.

It took me close to 3 hours to change that frigging starter. It was easier installing the new one than it was the old one.
I took the solenoid off the old starter and probbed around. Seems Ford is using plastic parts in the bendix area. The "lever" that slides the gear out was worn flat dab out.
Anyway, the new starter is so much smoother and quieter.
