Check engine light but no code???
I recently had a check engine light appear on my 97 f 250 ld. The vehicle never performed any different. I took it to some guys I know at Pep Boys and they scanned it for codes. None came up.??? So they told me they would clear the codes, told me to watch forthe light again and bring it back if it reappeared. The truck has 81,200 miles on it and is a 5.4 liter.Any ideas or opinions On how or why I got a check engine light but no codes?

Did they also check for memory codes? Some people don't know that it might pass the on-demand test but there still could be codes in memory. A scan tool should tell you if there are memory codes but at places like Pep Boys and AutoZone where the person doing the test might not have any training you never know you might get.
