Just hit 800 miles on the 06. First haul, pulled the 4500lb trailer 250 round trip with no problems except trying to keep it under 75 so I don't get a ticket. 5 in the crewcab, a bed full of gear and it never even hesitated at all and I still had alot of pedal left. Both sides of Tejon pass on the grapevine. Came over from the north and easily did 65 mph up it passing people, could have held 70 easy, and it was 105 degrees out and the temp gauges never budged. Never felt the headwind on the way to the lake, usually pushes you all over the place. My buddy who hauls the boat too was amazed at the difference between the 5.4 in his F150 and the F250's 6.0. Passed a V10 F250 no problem, he should have bought the diesel.

Averaged around 12 mpg according to the dash. Not bad considering the truck is stock, brand new, and I was a little heavy footed on the flats. I have yet to really push the truck.

Oh yeah, the Tow/Haul going downhill is amazing, usually we are somewhat at the mercy of the hill in the F150. I actually saw the speed decreasing going down the north side of the grapevine towing the trailer. I felt completely safe and totally in control with this feature on. Amazing. Also had to stop very quickly as some moron pulled out on us without looking in a compact pickup. The 250 stopped real quick even with the load, I would have killed the guy for sure if I had not slowed a bit and driven defensively.

Luxury lariat interior, powerful engine, great breaking and control. What an amazing vehicle. Makes our roadtrips sooooo much better.

Talking

Just completed a round trip to San Diego from northern Utah. '04 F350 KR. 120 + degrees through the desert, 19.3 MPG. I have about 20K on my truck and no issues. Only mod is TB exhaust and EGR disconnect. Last truck I will ever have to buy.

It's because of posts like these that I finally bought an F350 after THREE years of wishing, hoping and saving. Been lurking here almost that long, too. So far, I'm still waiting for it to love me back, but it's only been a little over a week. Buying used you never know for sure. I'll give it some time and some TLC and see if she doesn't come around. I have a feeling I will always own a truck like this beast somehow.

LOl. Hope not. I did get the extended 5yr/100k warranty. My pocketbook is drained pretty well right now as it is.

Well it does depend on how she was treated by the previous owner, but you have to do a ton of mistreatment to these trucks and most of the time it would show.
Just my opinion, congrats on your truck.

boggerman, yes from a local dealer. I don't want to hijack this thread, and details in my sig but it had 33,500 miles, had been used for towing and looked to be in awesome shape. A very clean truck. It was actually the used car managers truck. He got a deal on a new 06 and asked me if I was interested as I had been looking at another on their lot. He had put 700 miles on it since it was traded in. So far the turbo intake hose blew off under load and it's been in the shop since monday to fix an electrical problem. They have no clue how to fix it. I've owned it for a week and they've had it most of that time. Not a good start. My last resort is talk to a friend of mine who is the Director of finance for this dealership chain and see what he can do. The tech was on the Ford hotline all day yesterday and no one knows what's going on even though they can replicate the problem.

Got my f-350 6.0 in february after i ordered it from kentucky. have about 7,000 on it. Knock on wood not ever a hickup, burp, fart or anything out of it. It's a powerhouse That i can't wait to pipe and lift. Best 49,000 i'll ever spend. Been in fords my whole life and it'll never change. Early 03's-and 04's had their problems as any new product would but if your non educated enough to buy the first of any new product before a year or two in real world conditions, (YOU GET WHAT YOU DESERVE) And don't cry about the company being junk. Hoping for many years of flawless service

John D,
My brother in law has an 03 and loves his too. He hears from time to time that he should be having problems. As time goes by, he has learned to ignore the stories. Glad to hear that yours is good too. Actually, I think they have worked out the problems that were occurring in the early years so, just enjoy yours.
Glad to read of your fortune. My 05 is great too. I think she's a keeper. I feel like I need to buy a bigger camper to pull as she really never gets a good workout. it seems with under a 10,000 lb trailer. Maybe a 40 foot 5'r will do. Only problem is I would be limited where I can fit one of those big monsers.

Don't worry, I would say you've got pleanty of edumikation, judging by your eloquent verbal delivery.
