Auto transmission shift problem...
1970 F250 360 w/auto transmission, and it runs GOOD, but it does not want to shift into 2ND gear after accelerating from stand still. If I let off on throttle and then accelerate again it will shift. Have checked vacum hoses and fluid level and they appear to be OK. Any suggestions on what the problem may be would be appreciated. Is this the way it is supposed to be?

im not sure what it is called ,, but, i think your problem is the part that is on the tranny that the vacum line leads to , I would look into that. also , might want to check your kickdown cable , never know ,,

Sounds like the modulator valve is shot Dan. There are adjustable modualtor valves made so that you can select your shift points. (1st to second @ 4500rpm etc.) You can adjust your shift points by turning the adjusting screw in in out. The screw is inside the end of the valve where you connect the vacum hose from the carb. After replacing that, it should cure your shifting problems.

Auto transmission shift problem...
I think it's on the right rear on the C-6 and held in with one bolt. Piece of cake.
