Install 93-99 V6 into a 90 Ranger

Anybody know if the newer V6 5 speeds in the 93 and up Rangers will install in a 1990 model Ranger relatively easily. The reason I'm asking is, I have a carb'd 5.0 in my 90 Ranger now that won't pass a sniff test and I'm seriously thinking of switching it back to a six and then using it to commute to work.

The 5.0 Ranger I have now is on my personal web site here: www.gofastgarage.com/gofast50ranger.htm

The new v-6 will be OBD II and could be a hassle. Look for a V-6 that is the same year or newer (as the law states) but before they went to the OBD II computer system. My 96 ranger was OBD II and I believe that was the first year for the ranger.

'95 can go both ways.

I'd say look for a '94 4.0L...it's your best bet...guaranteed EEC-IV, but a later model of the engine.

Plus, it'll be an easy swap, just need some mounts off of another Ranger or Explorer which had the 4.0L and you're pretty much good to go. No reason to lose the 5.0L radiator, etc.
