Talking ignition ????

after a couple of days of searching and troubleshooting i found the problem. i traced and checked all my wires from the battery all the way to the ignition switch. i replaced a couple of corroded and broken wires and re-did the ignition switch. i now have power including headlights, taillights, and even the fan and wipers. i checked this with just jumper cables to test if power was flowing. i will wait to try an actual start when i have a new battery to put in my '66. i wanted to thank all who gave me such great advice. "thank you all!". this is a really great place for tips and tricks. hopefully the new battery will be all i need now and that the starter is still in great shape. thanks again and have a great weekend!

Take the starter down to your local parts house and have it checked out. Thats what I would do. And I'm glad to here you fixed your wireing problem thats cool. Very happy for you.

ignition????

That is the plan. I will be buying a new battery Wed. or Thurs. and putting it in Frid. or Sat. Also, testing the starter as well. I know where I can get a new starter for 27.99. Does it matter if it is Automatic or Standard on the starter. I was told it did, but that doesn't seem right. What do you think, please let me know.

It depends on what engine you have. The FE uses the same starter either way, the I6 I think uses a different starter depending on auto or manual trans.
