e4od woes

hi I have a 1990 F-150 302 2wd with a e4od in it. It has begun to slip like crazy and therefore I have taken it out. I am trying to remove the pump body to get at tnnards of this beast. Though I am no tranny expert by far I do know I should not have the problems I am having to get this pump out I am prying it out and can only get it so far. Is there any advice out there for a guy who can't afford the 3G's a tranny shop wants on how to get this pump out??

Have you got the pan and filter off. The filter is inserted into the pump housing and will prevent you from removing the pump. With the pan and filter off you can pry the pump out from the bottom of the transmission. The better way to pull the pump is to use the threaded holes in the front of the pump with a slide hammer.

Yes I do have all the stated components off we tried a slide hammer in the two threaded hole but it did not work. We also gave the tailshaft a tap on the floor to no avail. we tried pryong from the an access hole from just behind the pupmp and on the bottom side of the tranny which only pushed forward the pump a bit and in my opinion only served to bind it. I was thinking however of tapping the pump back in and taking a peice of square tubing accross the mouth od the bell housing and with two long bolts put through holes drilled to match up with the 2 threaded holes on the pump and turning it out slowly. The only concern I have here is killing the threads on the pump. I know this sounds drastic but the guy I am doing the tranny with used to work on them for a living and has never seen on so tough to get out.
